Nakamurella Tao et al. 2004, gen. nov. (Type genus of the family ¤ Nakamurellaceae Tao et al. 2004).
Type species: ¤ Nakamurella multipartita (Yoshimi et al. 1996) Tao et al. 2004.
Illegitimate synonym: ¤ Microsphaera Yoshimi et al. 1996.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Nakamurella, to honour the Japanese microbiologist Professor Kazunori Nakamura.
Valid publication: TAO (T.S.), YUE (Y.Y.), CHEN (W.X.) and CHEN (W.F.): Proposal of Nakamurella gen. nov. as a substitute for the bacterial genus Microsphaera Yoshimi et al. 1996 and Nakamurellaceae fam. nov. as a substitute for the illegitimate bacterial family Microsphaeraceae Rainey et al. 1997. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2004, 54, 999-1000.

Notes:
1 The name ¤ Microsphaera Yoshimi et al. 1996 is illegitimate because of precedence of the fungal genus Microsphaera (Wallr.) Léveillé 1851 [Principle 2, Rule 51b(4)]. Consequently, a new genus designation Nakamurella has been proposed by Tao et al. 2004.
2 In the etymology of the genus Nakamurella, provided by Tao et al. 2004, the first name of Prof. Nakamura is erroneously cited as Kazonuri.

Note: According to Kim et al. 2012 Nakamurella Tao et al. 2004 is an earlier heterotypic synonym of the names ¤ Humicoccus Yoon et al. 2007, and ¤ Saxeibacter Lee et al. 2008.
