Type species: ¤ Muriicola jejuensis Kahng et al. 2010.
Etymology: L. n. muria (or muries), salt liquor; L. suff. -cola (from L. n. incola), dweller, inhabitant; N.L. masc. n. Muriicola, dweller in salt water.
Valid publication: KAHNG (H.Y.), LEE (S.S.), KIM (J.M.), JUNG (J.Y.), LEE (M.Y.), PARK (W.) and JEON (C.O.): Muriicola jejuensis gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from seawater. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2010, 60, 1644-1648.

Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: EU443206.
Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. jejuensis, of Jeju island, Republic of Korea, from where the type strain was isolated.

Muriicola marianensis Hu et al. 2015, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) A6B8=CGMCC 1.12606=KCTC 32436.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA) for the type strain: KC839612.
Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. marianensis, referring to the Mariana Trench, from where the type strain was isolated.
