Type species: ¤ Mongoliitalea lutea Yang et al. 2012.
Etymology: N.L. n. Mongolia, Mongolia; L. fem. n. talea, rod, stick; N.L. fem. n. Mongoliitalea, a rod from Mongolia, referring to the isolation of the bacterial strain from Mongolia Plateau.
Valid publication: YANG (C.X.), LIU (Y.P.), BAO (Q.H.), FENG (F.Y.), LIU (H.R.), ZHANG (X.J.) and ZHAO (Y.L.): Mongoliitalea lutea gen. nov., sp. nov., an alkaliphilic, halotolerant bacterium isolated from a haloalkaline lake. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2012, 62, 647-653.

Etymology: L. fem. adj. lutea, orange coloured.
