Mogibacterium Nakazawa et al. 2000, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Mogibacterium pumilum Nakazawa et al. 2000.
Etymology: Gr. adj. mogis, with toil and pain, i. e. hardly, scarcely; L. neut. n. bacterium, a small rod; N.L. neut. n. Mogibacterium, a difficult-to-culture, rod-shaped bacterium.

Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) HM-7 = ATCC 700923= CCUG 47132 = JCM 11205.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AB037874.
Etymology: L. neut. part. adj. diversum, diverse, referring to its low level of rRNA gene sequence similarity to the other Mogibacterium species.

Etymology: L. neut. part. adj. neglectum, neglected, referring to the poor growth and tiny colonies that caused this organism to be neglected for a long time.
