Miniimonas Ue et al. 2011, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Miniimonas arenae Ue et al. 2011.
Etymology: L. adj. minius, cinnabar-red, vermilion; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Miniimonas, vermilion monad, referring to the colour of the cell mass.
Valid publication: UE (H.), MATSUO (Y.), KASAI (H.) and YOKOTA (A.): Miniimonas arenae gen. nov., sp. nov., an actinobacterium isolated from sea sand. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2011, 61, 123-127.

Etymology: L. gen. n. arenae, of sand, isolated from sea sand.
