Type genus: ¤ Micromonospora Ørskov 1923 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Micromonospora, type genus of the suborder; suff. -ineae, ending to denote a suborder; N.L. fem. pl. n. Micromonosporineae, the Micromonospora suborder.
