Etymology: L. n. lutum, mud; L. neut. n. baculum, rod; N.L. neut. n. Lutibaculum, rod from mud.
Valid publication: ANIL KUMAR (P.), SRINIVAS (T.N.R.), MANASA (P.), MADHU (S.) and SHIVAJI (S.): Lutibaculum baratangense gen. nov., sp. nov., a proteobacterium isolated from a mud volcano. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2012, 62, 2025-2031.

Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: FN297835.
Etymology: N.L. neut. adj. baratangense, of or pertaining to Baratanga, an island of the Andaman group of islands, from where the type strain was isolated.
