Etymology: L. adj. luteus, yellow; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Luteibacter, yellow rod.

Luteibacter anthropi Kämpfer et al. 2009, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) CCM 7598 = CCUG 25036.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: FM212561.
Etymology: Gr. n. anthropos, a human being; N.L. gen. n. anthropi, of a human being, since the type strain was recovered from a human clinical specimen.
Valid publication: KÄMPFER (P.), LODDERS (N.) and FALSEN (E.): Luteibacter anthropi sp. nov., isolated from human blood, and reclassification of Dyella yeojuensis Kim et al. 2006 as Luteibacter yeojuensis comb. nov. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2009, 59, 2884-2887.

Luteibacter rhizovicinus Johansen et al. 2005, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) LJ96 = ATCC BAA-1015 = DSM 16549.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AJ580498.
Etymology: Gr. n. rhiza, root; L. masc. adj. vicinus, neighbouring; N.L. masc. adj. rhizovicinus, neighbouring a root, referring to the rhizosphere, soil closely related to plant roots, from where the type strain was isolated.

Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. yeojuensis, pertaining to Yeoju, a city in Korea, from where the type strain originated.
