Etymology: Gr. adj. leptos, thin, fine, narrow; L. neut. n. bacterium, rod; N.L. neut. n. Leptobacterium, a slender rod.
Valid publication: MITRA (S.), MATSUO (Y.), HAGA (T.), YASUMOTO-HIROSE (M.), YOON (J.), KASAI (H.) and YOKOTA (A.): Leptobacterium flavescens gen. nov., sp. nov., a marine member of the family Flavobacteriaceae, isolated from marine sponge and seawater. Etymology: L. part. adj. flavescens, becoming golden-yellow.
