Type species: ¤ Lebetimonas acidiphila Takai et al. 2005.
Etymology: L. n. lebes -etis, a copper basin, kettle, caldron; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Lebetimonas, cell from a caldron.
Valid publication: TAKAI (K.), HIRAYAMA (H.), NAKAGAWA (T.), SUZUKI (Y.), NEALSON (K.H.) and HORIKOSHI (K.): Lebetimonas acidiphila gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel thermophilic, acidophilic, hydrogen-oxidizing chemolithoautotroph within the 'Epsilonproteobacteria', isolated from a deep-sea hydrothermal fumarole in the Mariana Arc. Etymology: L. adj. acidus, sour; N.L. fem. adj. phila (from Gr. fem. adj. philê), loving; N.L. fem. adj. acidiphila, acid-loving.
