Klugiella Cook et al. 2008, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Klugiella xanthotipulae Cook et al. 2008.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Klugiella, named after Michael J. Klug, an American entomologist/microbiologist who, along with S. Kotarski, first described the microbial community of the Tipula abdominalis larval gut, from which strain 44C3T was isolated.

Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) 44C3 = ATCC BAA-1524 = DSM 18031 = JCM 16542.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AY372075.
Etymology: Gr. adj. xanthos, yellow; N.L. fem. gen. n. tipulae, of Tipula, a zoological genus name; N.L. fem. gen. n. xanthotipulae, yellow from Tipula, referring to the isolation of a yellow-colony-forming organism from Tipula abdominalis.
