Type species: ¤ Kandleria vitulina (Sharpe et al. 1973) Salvetti et al. 2011.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Kandleria, named after Otto Kandler, for his outstanding contribution to the study of lactic acid bacteria and for the first identification of Lactobacillus vitulinus.
Valid publication: SALVETTI (E.), FELIS (G.E.), DELLAGLIO (F.), CASTIONI (A.), TORRIANI (S.) and LAWSON (P.A.): Reclassification of Lactobacillus catenaformis (Eggerth 1935) Moore and Holdeman 1970 and Lactobacillus vitulinus Sharpe et al. 1973 as Eggerthia catenaformis gen. nov., comb. nov. and Kandleria vitulina gen. nov., comb. nov., respectively. Etymology: L. fem. adj. vitulina, of a calf.
