Iodobacter Logan 1989, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Iodobacter fluviatilis corrig. Logan 1989.
Etymology: Gr. adj. ioeides, violet-colored; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a small rod; N.L. masc. n. Iodobacter, a violet-colored, small rod.
Valid publication: LOGAN (N.A.): Numerical taxonomy of violet-pigmented, gram-negative bacteria and description of Iodobacter fluviatile gen. nov., comb. nov. Int. J. Syst. Bacteriol., 1989, 39, 450-456.

Note: The nomenclatural name Ioeidobacter (Gr. adj. ioeides, violet-colored; N.L. bacter, a small rod; N.L. masc. n. Ioeidobacter, a small violet-colored rod) seems better than Iodobacter.
