Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: FM883672.
Etymology: N.L. n. alkali, soda ash; N.L. adj. philus -a -um (from Gr. adj. philos -ê -on), friend, loving; N.L. masc. adj. alkaliphilus, alkali-loving.
Valid publication: ANIL KUMAR (P.), SRINIVAS (T.N.R.), MADHU (S.), MANORAMA (R.) and SHIVAJI (S.): Indibacter alkaliphilus gen. nov., sp. nov., an alkaliphilic bacterium isolated from a haloalkaline lake. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2010, 60, 721-726.

Note: The type species is not cited in the paper by Anil Kumar et al. 2010. However, when originally published the genus included only one species (Indibacter alkaliphilus) and that species must be the type (see Rule 20c).
