Type species: ¤ Hwangdonia seohaensis Jung et al. 2013.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Hwangdonia named after Hwangdo, an island located in the Yellow Sea in Korea, from where the organism was isolated.

Hwangdonia seohaensis Jung et al. 2013, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) HD-3=KCTC 32177=CCUG 63246.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA) for the type strain: JX546142.
Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. seohaensis, of Seohae, the Korean name of the Yellow Sea of South Korea, where Hwangdo is located and from where the type strain was isolated.
