Type species: ¤ Hathewaya histolytica Lawson and Rainey 2016.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Hathewaya, to honour the late American microbiologist Charles L. Hatheway in recognition of his outstanding contributions with dealing with pathogenic clostridia.
