Type species: ¤ Halosimplex carlsbadense Vreeland et al. 2003.
Etymology: Gr. n. hals halos, salt; L. adj. simplex -icis, simple (in a moral sense), without dissimulation, uncomplicated; N.L. neut. n. Halosimplex, simple salts, the simple halophile.
