Nomenclatural type: ¤ Halococcus Oren et al. 2009.
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Halococcus, type genus of the family; -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. masc. pl. n. Halococcaceae, the family whose nomenclatural type is the genus Halococcus.
