Type species: ¤ Halalkalibacillus halophilus Echigo et al. 2007.
Etymology: Gr. n. hals halos, salt; Arabic n. al qaliy, soda ash; L. masc. n. bacillus, rod; N.L. masc. n. Halalkalibacillus, briny and alkaline media loving rods.
Valid publication: ECHIGO (A.), FUKUSHIMA (T.), MIZUKI (T.), KAMEKURA (M.) and USAMI (R.): Halalkalibacillus halophilus gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel moderately halophilic and alkaliphilic bacterium isolated from a non-saline soil sample in Japan. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2007, 57, 1081-1085.

Etymology: Gr. n. hals halos, salt; N.L. adj. philus -a -um (from Gr. adj. philos -ê -on), friend, loving; N.L. masc. adj. halophilus, salt loving.
