Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AB680901.
Etymology: L. gen. n. sanguinis, of the blood.
Valid publication: Validation List no. 53. Int. J. Syst. Bacteriol., 1995, 45, 418-419.
Effective publication: COLLINS (M.D.), AGUIRRE (M.), FACKLAM (R.R.), SHALLCROSS (J.) and WILLIAMS (A.M.): Globicatella sanguis gen. nov., sp. nov., a new gram-positive catalase-negative bacterium from human sources. J. Appl. Bacteriol. 1992, 73, 433-437.

Note: The original spelling of the specific epithet, sanguis (sic), has been corrected by Trüper and De' Clari 1997.
Reference: TRÜPER (H.G.) and DE' CLARI (L.): Taxonomic note: Necessary correction of specific epithets formed as substantives (nouns) "in apposition". Int. J. Syst. Bacteriol., 1997, 47, 908-909.

Note: The previously listed 16S rRNA sequence (accession number S50214) for the type strain has about 40 "N" ambiguities. Another sequence, from type strain NBRC 15551 deposited in GenBank under accession number AB680901 has no ambiguities and will be used hereafter in LPSN [Personal communication, Karine Desjardins, August 2016].
