Type species: ¤ Fulvitalea axinellae Haber et al. 2013.
Etymology: L. adj. fulvus, yellow; L. fem. n. talea, rod; N.L. fem. n. Fulvitalea, yellow-coloured rod.
Valid publication: HABER (M.), SHEFER (S.), GIORDANO (A.), ORLANDO (P.), GAMBACORTA (A.) and ILAN (M.): Fulvitalea axinellae gen. nov., sp. nov., a member of the family Flammeovirgaceae isolated from the Mediterranean sponge Axinella verrucosa. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2013, 63, 1678-1683.

Fulvitalea axinellae Haber et al. 2013, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) VI.18 = ATCC BAA-2395 = LMG 26722.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: JN699063.
Etymology: N.L. gen. n. axinellae, of Axinella, referring to the isolation of the type strain from the marine sponge Axinella verrucosa.
