Type species: ¤ Fructobacillus fructosus (Kodama 1956) Endo and Okada 2008.
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Fructobacillus, arbitrarily derived from fructose and Lactobacillus, intended to mean fructose-loving lactic acid-producing bacillus.
