Type species: ¤ Frisingicoccus caecimuris Lagkouvardos et al. 2016.
Etymology: L. fem. n. Frisinga, the Roman name for the city of Freising; N.L. masc. n. coccus, coccus; N.L. masc. n. Frisingicoccus,; the type strain of the type species grows as coccobacilli and was originally isolated in the German city Freising.
