Type species: ¤ Frischella perrara Engel et al. 2013.
Etymology: N.L. dim. fem. n. Frischella, named after Karl Ritter von Frisch, 1889–1982, for his prominent role in the study of honeybee behaviour.

Frischella perrara Engel et al. 2013, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) PEB0191=NCIMB 14821=ATCC BAA-2450.

Etymology: L. fem. adj. perrara, very rare/exceptional, referring to its restricted occurrence in the honeybee gut.
