Type species: ¤ Flectobacillus major (Gromov 1963) Larkin et al. 1977 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: L. v. flecto, to bend, to curve; L. masc. n. bacillus, a little staff, rod; N.L. masc. n. Flectobacillus (sic), little curved rod.
