Type species: ¤ Ethanoligenens harbinense Xing et al. 2006.
Etymology: N.L. n. ethanol -is, ethanol; L. part. adj. genens (from L. v. genere to produce) producing; N.L. neut. n. Ethanoligenens, ethanol-producing (bacterium).
Valid publication: XING (D.), REN (N.), LI (Q.), LIN (M.), WANG (A.) and ZHAO (L.): Ethanoligenens harbinense gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from molasses wastewater. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2006, 56, 755-760.

Ethanoligenens harbinense Xing et al. 2006, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) YUAN-3 = CGMCC 1.5033 = JCM 12961.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: CP002400 (complete genome).
Etymology: N.L. neut. adj. harbinense, pertaining to Harbin, from Harbin, where the type strain was isolated.
