Type species: ¤ Epilithonimonas tenax O'Sullivan et al. 2006.
Etymology: N.L. n. epilithon -onis (or epilithonum -i), epilithon; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Epilithonimonas, a monad isolated from epilithon.
