Type species: ¤ Egicoccus halophilus Zhang et al. 2016.
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos), grain, seed; N.L. masc. n. Egicoccus, arbitrary name formed from the acronym of the Institute of Ecology and Geography, EGI, where the first taxonomic study of this taxon was performed.
