Type species: ¤ Dissulfuribacter thermophilus Slobodkin et al. 2013.
Etymology: L. inseparable particle dis, in two; L. n. sulfur, sulfur; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Dissulfuribacter, a rod that disproportionates sulfur.

Etymology: Gr. n. thermê, heat; N.L. masc. adj. philus (from Gr. masc. adj. philos), friend, loving; N.L. masc. adj. thermophilus, heat loving.
