Etymology: L. n. desertum, desert; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Desertibacter, a desert bacterium.

Etymology: L. masc. adj. roseus, rose-coloured, pink.

Desertibacter xinjiangensis Jiang et al. 2014, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) M71=CCTCC AB 209291=CIP 110127.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA) for the type strain: KC625488.
Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. xinjiangensis, pertaining to Xinjiang, an autonomous region in north-western China, where the type strain was isolated.
