Type genus: ¤ Deinococcus Brooks and Murray 1981.
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Deinococcus, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Deinococcaceae, the Deinococcus family.
