Conexibacter Monciardini et al. 2003, gen. nov. (Type genus of the family ¤ Conexibacteraceae Stackebrandt 2005).
Type species: ¤ Conexibacter woesei Monciardini et al. 2003.
Etymology: L. part. adj. conexus, bound, tied; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Conexibacter, a rod that is bound.
Valid publication: MONCIARDINI (P.), CAVALETTI (L.), SCHUMANN (P.), ROHDE (M.) and DONADIO (S.): Conexibacter woesei gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel representative of a deep evolutionary line of descent within the class Actinobacteria. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2003, 53, 569-576.

Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AB597950.
Etymology: L. masc. adj. arvalis, of or pertaining to a cultivated field.

Conexibacter woesei Monciardini et al. 2003, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) ID131577 = DSM 14684 = JCM 11494 = NBRC 100937.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: CP001854 (complete genome).
Etymology: N.L. gen. masc. n. woesei, of Woese, named to honour Carl R. Woese, for his pioneering work on the use of 16S rRNA in phylogenetic analysis.
