Type genus: ¤ Chromatium Perty 1852 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. Chromatium, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Chromatiaceae, the Chromatium family.
