Type species: ¤ Chitinivibrio alkaliphilus Sorokin et al. 2014.
Etymology: N.L. n. chitinum, chitin; N.L. n. vibrio, that which vibrates; N.L. masc. n. Chitinivibrio, vibrio-shaped bacterium utilizing chitin as substrate.
