Type genus: ¤ Caulobacter Henrici and Johnson 1935 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Caulobacter, type genus of the suborder; suff. -ineae, ending denoting a suborder; N.L. fem. pl. n. Caulobacterineae, the Caulobacter suborder.
