Type species: ¤ Catenibacterium mitsuokai Kageyama and Benno 2000.
Etymology: L. n. catena, chain; L. neut. n. bacterium, a small rod; N.L. neut. n. Catenibacterium, chain rodlet.

Catenibacterium mitsuokai Kageyama and Benno 2000, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) RCA 14-39 = CCUG 48821 A = CCUG 48821 B = CIP 106738 = JCM 10609.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AB030224.
Etymology: N.L. gen. masc. n. mitsuokai, of Mitsuoka, named after K. Mitsuoka, a Japanese microbiologist.
