Type species: ¤ Caloribacterium cisternae Slobodkina et al. 2012.
Etymology: L. n. calor, heat; L. neut. n. bacterium, a small rod; N.L. neut. n. Caloribacterium, a thermophilic rod.

Etymology: L. fem. n. cisterna, a reservoir; L. gen. n. cisternae, of/from a reservoir, referring to the source of the type strain.
