Brackiella Willems et al. 2002, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Brackiella oedipodis Willems et al. 2002.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Brackiella, named in honour of Manfred Brack, German pathologist, head of the Department of Pathology of the Deutsches Primatenzentrum GmbH, Göttingen, from 1978 to 1999.

Brackiella oedipodis Willems et al. 2002, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)

Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AJ277742.
Etymology: N.L. gen. n. oedipodis, of oedipus,  referring to the first isolation source, the tamarin Saguinus oedipus.
