Bisgaardia Foster et al. 2011, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Bisgaardia hudsonensis Foster et al. 2011.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Bisgaardia, to honour Magne Bisgaard, a contemporary Danish microbiologist, for his contributions to the taxonomy of the family Pasteurellaceae.
Valid publication: FOSTER (G.), HIGGINS (R.), LECLAIR (D.), KORCZAK (B.M.), MIKAELIAN (I.), PATTERSON (I.A.P.) and KUHNERT (P.): Proposal of Bisgaardia hudsonensis gen. nov., sp. nov. and an additional genomospecies, isolated from seals, as new members of the family Pasteurellaceae. Bisgaardia hudsonensis Foster et al. 2011, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) M327/99/2 = 98-D-690B = CCUG 43067 = NCTC 13475.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: GU295084.
Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. hudsonensis, of or belonging to Hudson Bay, the area of Canada where the strains originated.

Etymology: N.L. gen. n. miroungae, of Mirounga, isolated from the northern elephant seal Mirounga angustirostris.
