Nomenclatural type: ¤ Bacteriovorax Baer et al. 2000.
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Bacteriovorax, type genus of the family; suff. -ales, ending to denote an order; N.L. fem. pl. n. Bacteriovoracales, the order of the genus Bacteriovorax.
