Type order: ¤ Bacillales Prévot 1953 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Bacillus (from L. masc. n. bacillus), type genus of the type order of the class; N.L. masc. pl. n. Bacilli, the Bacillus class.
