Type species: ¤ Aspromonas composti Jin et al. 2007.
Etymology: Gr. adj. aspros, white; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Aspromonas, a white monad.
Valid publication: JIN (L.), KIM (K.K.), IM (W.T.), YANG (H.C.) and LEE (S.T.): Aspromonas composti gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel member of the family Xanthomonadaceae. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2007, 57, 1876-1880.

¤ Arenimonas Kwon et al. 2007.

Note: Aslam et al. 2009 propose to transfer Aspromonas composti Jin et al. 2007 (the type species of the genus Aspromonas) to the genus ¤ Arenimonas Kwon et al. 2007 as ¤ Arenimonas composti (Jin et al. 2007) Aslam et al. 2009, comb. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Aspromonas to ¤ Arenimonas.

Etymology: N.L. n. compostum -i, compost; N.L. gen. n. composti, of compost.
