Type species: ¤ Actinocorallia herbida Iinuma et al. 1994.
Etymology: Gr. n. actis actinos, a ray; L. n. corallium, coral; N.L. fem. n. Actinocorallia (sic), intended to mean a microorganism (actinomycete) that forms sporophores resembling coral.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. aurantiaca, orange-coloured, referring to the gold-colored substrate mycelium.
