Etymology: N.L. n. acidum (from L. adj. acidus, sour), an acid; N.L. adj. aminus, amino; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos, grain, seed), coccus; N.L. masc. n. Acidaminococcus, the amino acid coccus.
